U.S. Marine Corps (Ret) Col. Thomas M. Williams, USMC (Ret.) is currently a Technology Consultant for the Department of Defense. Previously he was the Managing Director of the Utah Science, Technology and Research Agency (USTAR). Reporting to the governor’s office, the agency promotes economic development through the advancement and commercialization of technology. He commanded at all levels during his 31 years of Marine Corps service and traveled extensively in the Pacific, Europe, the former Soviet Union and the Middle East. He served in combat tours in Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Afghanistan as well as Bosnia and Kosovo in the Balkans.At the Office of Naval Research he served as the Military Department Head, leading the portfolio of over 500 advanced technology programs for the Marine Corps and Navy SEAL’s. He has a B.S. in Aeronautics from San Jose State University and M.A. in Economics from the University of Oklahoma.
